Intro to chemical engineering

 WHAT IS CHEMICAL ENGINEERING?

chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that basically deals with the design, construction, and operation of machines and plants that perform chemical reactions to solve practical problems or make useful products.

industrial view

It essentially deals with the engineering of chemicals, energy and the processes that create and/or convert them. Modern chemical engineers are concerned with processes that convert raw materials or chemicals into more useful or valuable forms.

                WHAT DO  CHEMICAL ENGINEERS DO?

Chemical engineering is all about turning raw materials into useful, everyday products. The clothes we   wear, the food and drink we consume and the energy we use all depend upon chemical engineering. Chemical engineers work out the processes to make all these products, while also helping to manage the world's resources, protect the environment and ensure health and safety standards are met.Chemical engineers often find practical applications for discoveries they make in the lab. This requires understanding the principles of chemistry and bio sciences as well as management and economics to create a solution.

The work of a chemical engineer is not the same as the work of a chemist. A chemist is responsible for creating the chemical reactions needed for a product. Chemical engineers are then responsible for making the process happen in a way that is cost effective, safe, and environmentally sound.
